We've all had to be around people and work with people who have opposite personalities. They are just different than us in every way. But what happens when you have to spend the entire day with that person and realize that you're more alike then you think? John Hughes' movie "The Breakfast Club" (1985) perfectly illustrates this scenario - different people coming together for the day. But does everything conform to their expectations?
"The Breakfast Club" is a comedy-drama about a group of five adolescents at Shermer High School, Illinois. The teenagers got detention for various reasons. You have the jock, the princess, the rebel, the smart kid, and the freaky outsider - John Bender, Claire Standish, Andrew Clark, Brian Johnson, and Allison Reynolds. While there, the power-hungry principal, Mr. Richard Vernon, gives the kids an assignment. Their goal is to write a 1000 word essay about who they think they are.
After a lot of fighting, the teens had a chance to talk about who they are and how they got into detention. They made each other view themselves differently! As the day ends, they all go home, knowing that each of them isn't as different from them as they might have thought.
The cast of "The Breakfast Club" consisted of the following actors and actresses:
Overall, this was a super fun, iconic movie to watch. Molly Ringwald, Emilio Estevez, and others were great actors. There were some funny parts throughout John Hughes' film, and this is a fantastic coming of age movie about teenagers and school in the 80s. The Breakfast Club shows that everyone is the same in a different, fascinating way. You can relate to the characters because you could easily be one of them - getting detention, writing an essay, and realizing how different and similar you are from the others. With the amount of swearing that there is, this isn't a movie to show a young audience. "The Breakfast Club" is a film to show to your kids who are ages 13+.
