city of angels movie review. movie with meg ryan and nicolas cage.

For a few days now, The City of Angels wouldn't leave my brain and my thoughts.

What is the movie about, and is it worth it?

Do angels exist? They do, and they live among us, ordinary people, protecting us, and making us happy. They are beautiful and immortal. But their immortality has a price: they can't be like people. The angels can't experience feelings, love, be loved; they can't know the taste of a pear and the bitterness of morning coffee.

The movie contains lots of details and great shots about the lives of angels. Their daily gatherings at sunrise on a beautiful beach, tasks to save, or guide a person to heaven are all depicted in the City of Angels as something so bright and kind. From the technical point of view, and taking into consideration the fact that the movie came out in 1998, it is excellent. The scenes of the city, rooms, and the actors satisfied my aesthetic needs.

The movie "City of Angels" talks about the story of one angel called Seth (brilliantly played by Nicolas Cage). At the beginning of the movie, he comes to a surgery room. The goal of Seth's arrival is to take a dying human patient with him and guide that patient into the world of the dead. In the surgery room, Seth meets a surgeon called Maggie Rice (amazingly played by Meg Ryan). This event later turns out to be fateful for both of them. There is something unfair, and almost unforgivable, in the fact that Maggie is so lonely. She is so beautiful, so strong and kind, and yet, still lonely. How could Maggie see the angel when others couldn't? And, well, how could she resist Seth's charms and eyes? This angel has something so helpless in him that makes the viewers root for him and be kind of scared for him as well. Your heart aches from foreboding.

The angel Seth decides to do something significant and reckless for his love Maggie. He decides to jump and become human. All of the mortal dangers can now affect him. I won't spoil the movie much. The morale of The City Of Angels is to appreciate life the way it is, with all its hardships and feelings, and even to enjoy death, a part of life.

For a few days now, The City of Angels wouldn't leave my brain and my thoughts. I recommend the movie to everyone who loves melodrama. It is sad, beautiful, emotional, like life itself. And although the film is pretty tragic, it leaves its bright and beautiful mark on you. After the movie, the first thing you want to do is buy some pears, eat these pears, and feel the juice and sweetness of them.
