Now, we have all heard of many fairy tales, such as Snow White, Cinderella, Goldilocks, and many more. The book that I will be reviewing today, the land of stories, makes you see some of our favorite fairy tales in a way that we might not have seen them in. It also really lets us see more of the fairy tale villain in this story and what kind of experience they went through.
The story is about twins, a boy, and a girl, named Alex and Connor. Alex is a bit of a know-it-all and is the top of her class, but isn't popular with her peers. Connor is the opposite when it comes to school. He isn't as invested as Alex is, and doesn't do so good in academics.
Throughout the twins' childhood, their grandmother would read them fairy tales. One day, Alex and Connor... get teleported into their grandmother's fairytale book and are in a land where the characters that they grew up to live in! Now, they're on a mission to get back to their world, but it's going to be a lot harder to get back then to get into the world in the first place.
Overall, I thought this was a great book. I loved to see the fairytale characters that I grew up with in this book. It was unique how the author was able to combine the fairytales and have them all connect in one way or another. It was also cool how they interacted with one another. It was also interesting how Chris Colfer portrayed some of the characters, mostly, in my opinion, Goldilocks and Little Red Riding Hood. For those of you who love fairy tales, adventures, and fantasy, this is the book for you. I also believe that, while this is a children's book, adults can 100% read it. Adults can see another side of a story and also get to relive their favorite fairy tales along the way.
