In this excellent romance novel, Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice was a thrilling tale, mainly focusing on the two sisters from the Bennet family, Jane, and Elizabeth, from Elizabeth's perspective.
It all began when Mr. Bingley bought the property called Netherfield and hosted a ball for everyone in the neighborhood to attend. Jane met Mr. Bingley, and Elizabeth met Mr. Darcy, who was a friend of Bingley's. Elizabeth disliked Darcy immediately because of his pride and rudeness. However, this was the beginning of a relationship where opposites attract.
In my opinion, Pride and Prejudice was one of the best classic novels because of the well-developed characters. For instance, one of my favorite characters, Mr. Darcy, had gone through a lot of transformation. When he first proposed to Elizabeth for marriage, he got rejected by Elizabeth, who vividly described his shortcomings. Mr. Darcy suddenly realized what they were and wanted to improve himself.
When Darcy had changed and improved from all those shortcomings, he proposed to his love again. This proposal surprised Elizabeth, as well as myself, when I was reading. He still had feelings for her and altered everything she said just for her, and this astonished me exceedingly. There are not many people who could do this nowadays since they are too greedy and selfish and think of themselves as always being in the right.
During these events, Elizabeth, who was also my favorite character, had changed as well. It happened when her aunt and uncle brought her to Pemberley (Mr. Darcy's house) for a vacation, even though she was quite unwilling to go. The servant of the house introduced everything about Darcy's family to the visitors, complimenting Darcy along the way. It was then that Elizabeth changed her mind and got rid of her prejudices. She started respecting Mr. Darcy and having feelings for him as well.
In my opinion, Pride and Prejudice was the right name for the book. The author Jane Austen used two characters that were opposites to bring out the themes - Mr. Darcy as the theme of pride, and Elizabeth as the theme of prejudice. It emphasized the pieces well, and the readers could see how the two transformed and how the relationship improved. They found a partner that taught each other a valuable lesson.
This novel realistically describes how people had lived in the past, how manners were everything because, from the way people spoke to how they sat and ate the food, everything could change. Someone was always observing another person, and from the manners, they could see through what the person was like. They could also tell if the person they were watching was worthy of forming an acquaintance with. Jane Austen wrote the book very well, and I would recommend Pride and Prejudice to all readers who are twelve years or older.
