"She is the most famous murder victim in America. What if she is not dead?". These were the words that made my hands take the book and read it in 4 hours. This is a detective written by Sophie Hannah in 2017. Many people call her the new Agatha Christie. She wrote quite a lot of books having Agatha Christie's name on the cover and her characters in the plot such as the Monogram Murders, The Mystery of Three Quarters and Closed Casket. But let's talk about Keep Her Safe first. The plot: Cara Burrows takes a rest from her English family in a 5-star American resort. On the night of her arrival she is given a key to the wrong room. When she comes inside, she sees a man and a girl there. On the next day, Cara sees an old lady describing the girl to the receptionist. She smells something fishy in the situation and finds out who the girl is with the help of her new friend Tarin Fry and the Internet. Turns out it is a girl called Melody Chapa killed in 2010 by her parents in a very awful manner - arsenic poisoning and lots of blood. The parents were very abusive mentally and loved Melody's sister Emory more. The thing with Emory is - she died in her mother's tummy, partly because of Melody. That was the motive the court found. But how come does Melody walk around the resort always having at least one distinguishing mark on her body? How come her parents are serving life sentences in prison without any possibility of parole? What is going on? While Cara only had Melody Chapa on her mind, her husband Patrick arrives from England. They have a conflict and Cara gets kidnapped after then. Kidnapped by a man into whose room she walked by accident. In the end, the FBI finds out about the whole conspiracy and what the mistakes were during the process of convicting. Detective books are quite hard to explain - there are many details to be taken into attention. Though, this detective is not complicated, it is still not easy to explain. But this was so interesting! I was super excited about reading it and in the future I will read more of Sophie Hannah's novels, that is for sure.
