Green Book came out in 2018 and was nominated with Academy Awards and The Best Movie of the Year. The movie was actually based on true events. The actors were Viggo Mortensen and Mahershala Ali.
The setting takes place in USA, in 1960s for 2 months. What is the plot about?
2 men with absolute opposite personalities meet each other. One of them is a piano player and a very educated man. He plays on a piano brilliantly. His name is Don Shirley. The other man, Tony Lip, is Don Shirley's driver and friend. He is smart in life, but not educated. In the beginning of the movie Tony is shown as racist throwing out the cups after the black policemen drank from them.
Together, Tony and Don Shirley travel across America to the South. The only issue here is that the pianist is black. Back then (and in some places now, of course, though people became more tolerant) people were very racist to people of different ancestry. The movie is about racism, in my opinion. In one of the last scenes, I remember that the restaurant waiters didn't let him sit and eat dinner with white people but still wanted him to perform for them. It was actually a bit sad to watch, but the way Tony the driver protected the Don Shirley told me that he was no longer racist. Then, the most exciting part was that Don Shirley went and performed in the black people bar where he was greeted and treated better.
I think people should really stop this whole discrimination thing. It really is useless and has never done any good to anyone. We need to stop wasting time on that and become united. If you have racist friends, show them this movie. It is really worth it. Hope you guys liked this video and subscribed. I really like this video, the message was awesome! One of my favourites of all time.
