Gifted

Hello, my dear friends! In this webpage, I am giving my opinion on the movie called "Gifted". It was directed by Marc Webb and actually came out in 2017. I watched it back then but yesterday, I decided to rewatch it and here I am! What is this movie and why does it have famous actors starring in it such as McKenna Grace, Chris Evans and Lindsay Duncan? Let's find out.

The setting is in USA, Florida in 2015 to 2017 because there are already MacBooks existing there. Let's play 'pretend' for now. Imagine you are a 6 year old girl. You live with your uncle because your mom committed suicide when you were very small. You are very smart and you realize that without being a show-off. But then you go to school and people there are just too boring for you and your uncle doesn't want to send you to an Academy for Gifted people. You are unhappy, right? Your mind is bored. Then, your cold-hearted, stubborn grandmother comes in and really wants to ensure you have the best education ever possible for a child to get in USA. You love your uncle and don't want to leave him but at the same time, you don't want to be bored with other kids in school. What do you do?

Basically, I just described Mary Adler's life in a 'pretend' game. Let me tell you some more details. She really is extraordinary and smart. I never was like that, to tell the truth. One rarely meets gifted kids. What did I like about the movie and what could have it done better?

I liked the actors. They really were real to me, and I can understand that by not even once trying to imagine the behind-the-scenes. Also, the plot has done a really good job with characters. At some moments, we, the viewers, want Mary to stay with grandma Evelyn, because she can give Mary the future anyone could only wish for. But, on the other hand, childhood as a normal person is really important, and only Frank, the uncle, would want and would be able to give Mary this. Both of them are correct at some point, and your opinion on who is right really just depends on who you like more - Evelyn or Frank. The only con that I found so far is that the ending is too predictable at some point of the movie. 75% in and you can bet on the ending with 90% of the chance that you are correct. I don't think that is very good, especially because viewers are not supposed to know how the movie turns out, right? That was the only con that I found.
