The Killing of a Sacred deer

For the first time I had an experience to watch such an unusual movie. The main characters are a family, a very good, happy, quite rich family. The father of the family, a heart surgeon Stephen, played by Colin Farrel and the mother, Anna, played by Nicole Kidman get along very well. They have 2 healthy kids that are quite happy too.

But here comes Martin, a teenage 16 year old boy. He was played by Barry Keoghan. Everything becomes unclear. It is unclear why a successful doctor looks like he is scared of the boy, gives him expensive gifts, but is still embarrassed to show Martin to his friend and colleague. At first, I thought that Martin was a found extramarital son of a surgeon. The plot develops dynamically, but... we still don't understand anything about Stephen's and Martin's behaviour. And there is also this very creepy music, we understand that something important is happening, but we still don't understand what exactly, just like Stephen's family.

His wife and kids are in the same position as us, they understand as much as we do, not much at all. Something will happen, probably scary, but we don't know what exactly. Meanwhile, Martin starts behaving in a way that weirds everybody out, Stephen is getting more and more worried. But then, there is a big plot twist. Stephen's and Anna's son is very sick at once. His legs are paralyzed, but the analysis doesn't show any results. Then their daughter, their second child is sick too. With the same thing.

And there Martin comes out. Everything gets clear. What was once only Martin's and Stephen's secret now becomes a fact. Martin's father was once Stephen's patient and he died during the heart surgery due to Stephen's mistake. And Stephen must be punished.

How is that possible? It is just fiction, I know, but it is amazing experience and amazing feelings of the characters. Only in the end of the movie we get the feeling of wanting to rewatch the movie. This feeling doesn't often occur to me. The thing is that when you rewatch this movie for the second time, you can understand what those important passages mean and why the music is so creepy on some scenes. It is like I know something from the future. Yes, this movie is fiction but it gives you food for thoughts.
